Tongue-in-cheek letter from Jack Price Jones to Coach Howard Allen about presence of James Thomas Welsh at an MBA vs. East High football game on Thanksgiving Day.
"Dear Mr. Allen:
Believing in the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship, we judge that it is only fair to you and your fine team that we acquaint you with sordid facts concerning the MBA -East High football game of Thanksgiving Day.
A certain person, one James Thomas Welsh, sat on the MBA bench during the first half of the game; that, of itself created much unfavorable comment among good people that know Welsh. These good citizens, people of impeccable reputation thought that you should not have allowed Welsh so near your many splendid boys. We noted that you chased Welsh off the bench for the second half: BRAVO! For that you were heartily commended by the good people present.
We happen to know that Welsh is kin to Coach Tommy Owen, East High mentor, and here is a report of Welsh's perfidy and warped mentality: Every time that you sent in a player, with instructions regarding the next paly, Welsh would flash a signal, using his fingers in the deaf sign language, to Coach Owen. Maybe you caught him in his nefarious conniving and, consequently, threw him off the MBA bench.
Forewarned is forearmed and we want you to know that Welsh is an Uncle of Coach Boyce Smith of Springfield. Be not deceived, Coach Allen, by the smooth, snaky tongue and complimentary blandishments of this Welsh character; he'll cut your throat for a quarter and give you twenty cents change.
Yours very truly,
Jace Price Jones, Sportsman"
